1. I was shocked when a reporter asked me why I regard the Israelis as terrorists when it is the Muslims who blow themselves up so as to kill children. The Israelis are apparently not considered to be terrorists despite daily reports with pictures of the women, children and babies who have been killed and wounded. (continue reading)

Islam means peace and submission to one God and the belief that the sole purpose of our existence is to worship God. This submission gives great inner peace and purpose to its followers. Full acceptance of this, with the knowledge that every action one takes has a consequence in an eternal after life, has profound effects on one’s behaviour.

Islam is a complete way of life, but what does this actually mean?

Islam permeates every aspect of one’s life and being; how you conduct yourself at work, how you treat family and friends, even in the way you do business. At the same time it allows for great variation in cultures across the world, personal growth and individual opinion.

The worship of God is not restricted to mosques alone but is in all aspects of life and work. In this way advances in science, exploration, art and discovering the mysteries of the world, all done with the intention of understanding God and his creation, are all acts of worshiping him. It was this philosophy that encouraged great Muslim scholars of the past to seek knowledge to improve the human condition.

The unifying belief in one God brings Muslims from all over the world together as one family. When a Muslim passes another Muslim in the street, they will greet each other with ‘Salaam-Peace.’

The inspiration of this peaceful and kind religion is not only limited to the Muslim world, but even the great western scholars and rulers. For instance, following are some quotations by Western personalities:

“I have always held the religion of Muhammad in high estimation because of its wonderful vitality. It is the only religion which appears to me to possess that assimilating capacity to the changing phase of existence which can make itself appeal to every age. I have studied him – the wonderful man and in my opinion far from being an anti-Christ, he must be called the Saviour of Humanity. I believe that if a man like him were to assume the dictatorship of the modern world, he would succeed in solving its problems in a way that would bring it the much needed peace and happiness: I have prophesied about the faith of Muhammad that it would be acceptable to the Europe of tomorrow as it is beginning to be acceptable to the Europe of today.” (Sir George Bernard Shaw)

“If any religion had the chance of ruling over England, nay Europe within the next hundred years, it could be Islam.”
(Sir George Bernard Shaw in ‘The Genuine Islam,’ Vol. 1, No. 8, 1936.)

“The Islamic teachings have left great traditions for equitable and gentle dealings and behavior, and inspire people with nobility and tolerance. These are human teachings of the highest order and at the same time practicable. These teachings brought into existence a society in which hard-heartedness and collective oppression and injustice were the least as compared with all other societies preceding it….Islam is replete with gentleness, courtesy, and fraternity.”
    (H.G. Wells)

“I hope the time is not far off when I shall be able to unite all the wise and educated men of all the countries and establish a uniform regime based on the principles of Qur’an which alone are true and which alone can lead men to happiness.”
(Napolean Bonaparte as Quoted in Christian Cherfils, ‘Bonaparte et Islam,’ Pedone Ed., Paris, France, 1914, pp. 105, 125.)

“During the period of the Caliphs the learned men of the Christians and the Jews were not only held in great esteem but were appointed to posts of great responsibility, and were promoted to the high ranking job in the government….He (Caliph Haroon Rasheed) never considered to which country a learned person belonged nor his faith and belief, but only his excellence in the field of learning.”
(Dr. William Draper in ‘History of Intellectual Development of Europe’)

Islam does not Teach violance, terrorism and ruthless-ness, but it is a religion of Peace, Kindess & Forgiveness. Please study deep about the religion before making any perception or passing any comment. Thank you!

Assalam o alaikum (May Peace Be Upon You)

    Ali Liaquat.

    Islam is Peace
