Muslim Scholars, a blogger and about Confucius

I was lucky enough to be invited to break fast with the Scholars in Islam a few days ago.

There was a presentation by a PhD candidate before the discussion started. For me it was little boring as the presentation was too academic.

It was all about Confucius teaching in China from Islamic perspective.

A well known scholar started asking a question after the presentation.

“China is a great country with massive land mass and huge population. Allah SWT said there is no nation and tribe on this earth without a messenger to guide its people. Of course there is no name of  a Chinese Prophet in the Holy Quran ( It was mentioned twenty five Prophets by name), but is it possible that Confucius is one of the Prophets among  one of the numerous being sent to all nations?

I was jolted by the Question.

Any of Confucius teaching was against Islam? The respectful scholar continued. “I have studied about early teaching of Confucius and there was no reason to believe that his original teachings are against Islam.”

Well, the particular presentation was only a part of probably thousand page thick thesis book which took about six years for a PhD candidate to finally submit for his final defense.

The Scholars have read, edited, presented numerous books of this kind of wonderful ideas but rarely seen by the outsider like us as it is too academic.

As a Burmese, immediately after the moment, I have started thinking about possibility of Buddha being a Prophet of Allah.

He said “Why not” as long as his teachings were not against the teaching of the last and final Prophet of mankind, we can not omit from the list of the 12,4000 Prophets that Allah have sent to all mankind.

Then he quoted Surah Al Maida 5:48

“And We have sent down the Book to you with truth,

Confirming and conserving the previous Books.

So judge between them by what Allah has sent down

and do not follow their whims and desires

deviating from the Truth that has come to you.

We have appointed a law and practice for everyone of you.

Had Allah willed, he would have made you a single community,

But he wanted to test you regarding what has come to you.

So compete with each other in doing good.

Every one of you will return to Allah and He will inform you

Regarding the things about which you differed”

It was so beautiful and enlightened discussion for me ( a blogger) who used to be (at times) not so flexible.

Allah created men in different races, regions and in different periods. Holy Quran

is the last revelation and also act as a Guard for the previous scriptures.

In Holy Quran Allah does not always speak only to a group of people but mostly to the all mankind. Earth is less than a dot in the  Universe and mankind is less than an atom in the sea of  sand.

Muslim Scholars are doing their job in fantastic way for the Pleasure of the Creator and also to form the bridges between different faiths of this world.

So this blogger who was there as a listener feels obliged to spread what I have heard on the evening of 16th day of the Holy Month of Ramadan to the blog readers.

May Allah bless Professor Emeritus Osman Bakar, Professor Dr Ajmal  and brother Yusuf from China who has successfully defended  his thesis for PhD for their hard work and good deeds.

Allah knows the best,

Kyaw Kyaw Oo

This is very interesting, no doubt other prophets have been sent to nations that existed. This type of research always gains my interest.

    Salam,
Thank you brothers. Thank you for your comment that make me to read the post I have written a year ago.
Your message is reminder of human nature that mentioned in the Holy Quran, forgetfulness of the mankind.
